You looked at the crowd of people dancing, not caring about the problems in their lives. However, one of them caught your eye. He was wearing a black mask with a gold liner. He spotted you staring and walked towards you. "May I have the next dance?" he asked. His voice was faintly familiar, it seemed to hypnotize you. Without thinking you nodded, and took his hand.

Both of your movements matched the music as it played. You glanced at his face and studied the mask. You looked at it in shock, because you remember when you gave the same mask to your love.

~FLASHBACK~

"Happy 10th birthday Antonio!" you cheered. You were 9 years old and were celebrating your best friend Antonio's birthday. " Thank you _______." he said bashfully.

"I have something to give you." You answered, handing him a box with satin ribbons on it. He opened it and looked inside. "Gracias _______, it's beautiful!" He said holding a new mask.

"I wanted to give you something nice because you are a good friend." You said blushing. Antonio then looked at you and gave you a big smile. "______, someday when we're older, I will wear this mask while we dance together." Your face Flushed and you stuttered back "I..I would love that." Both of you laughed, not knowing a clue of what would happen in the future.

~PRESENT~

You looked at him again and saw a pair of of green eyes through the mask."An..Antonio?" you said in disbelief. He nodded and you almost had the urge to feel his embrace. "Antonio I-", he put his finger to your lips."Shhh", he said quietly. "We don't want to give away my secret."

You smiled and kept dancing, the people around you started backing away. Letting the both of you dance in the middle of the ballroom. The dance ended and people started to come back together. You looked back at Antonio and saw him getting ready to leave. You turned back around. About to leave and wish the night would never end, when Antonio pulled you towards him.

"Let's dance tomorrow _______." he said. You agreed, and he leaned towards your ear. "I will rescue you bella from here." He whispered in your ear, sending a shiver of excitement down your neck. Then he was gone. You smiled, not knowing that a guard had been watching you two from afar.
